Slattery jumps in to help with
Freedom Memorial Garden

The vision of Eagle Scout candidate, Derek Weber, “Freedom Memorial Garden” is an amazing tribute to local fallen soldiers from the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.  I volunteered with dozen of people including Derek’s mom, dad and fellow scouts.  It was a great day of digging, planting and laying mulch (my back is still recovering.  J).  Congratulations to Derek and all of the volunteers and local officials who helped turn this tremendous idea into a reality.  We can all take a lesson from Derek’s thoughtfulness, hard work and patriotism!  The project is a wonderful success and an official dedication is scheduled for June 20, 2009 at 3 p.m.
