LMT Holds Special Dedication Ceremony for
“Freedom Memorial Garden”
June 20th 2009

I attended the "Freedom Memorial Garden" Dedication Ceremony this morning at the Lower Macungie Township Center. Despite the rain, it was well attended and expertly orchestrated. The “Freedom Memorial Garden” was the vision of local Boy Scout, Derek Weber, as his Eagle Scout Project. The Garden memorializes 16 local, fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I met with the families of those soldiers and realized that we often use words like sacrifice and honor cavalierly but in this case, these soldiers and families have truly warranted the description. It was my pleasure to help with the project and I offer my sincere condolences to the families of these fallen soldiers as well as wishing Derek all the best as he becomes an Eagle Scout in the coming weeks.
